The Big Five in southern Tanzania
Less known, yet gorgeous: Mikumi National Park and Selous Game Reserve. Unspoiled nature reserves with unprecedented safari possibilities and lots of wild animals. You’ll certainly spot the leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino (Big Five) here.
Mikumi is also called “Little Serengeti”. The many rivers and lakes in Selous guarantee beautiful boat safaris. There is much to discover in these varied areas, on foot, by boat and by jeep.
After the safari you sail to tropical Zanzibar to relax on the beach or to be active in and on the water.

Travel schedule
Your safari starts with a beautiful car trip from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi. The next five days are filled with safaris by jeep, short walking safaris and a boat safari. Watching the animals during a walk or watching them from a boat is spectacular to say the least.
After the safari, you sail to Zanzibar to a delightful lodge on the white sandy beach for you to spend the next five days. Here, you can either spend hours lying in your hammock listening to the waves or alternating this with sports and / or cultural activities.
Dar es Salaam
Your trip starts in Dar es Salaam; the economic heart of Tanzania. You’re welcomed at the airport and brought to a comfortable waterfront hotel, just outside the city centre of Dar es Salaam: a nice place for you to enjoy a drink and late night snack to recover from the flight.
Mikumi
Your guide picks you up at the hotel and together you drive to Mikumi National Park. From Dar es Salaam, you drive past charming villages and gorgeous sceneries. In the afternoon, you take a jeep safari right away, after which you spend the night at a stunning location in the park.
The next day you fully enjoy the park in its beauty and plentiful wildlife. Lunch is served as a picnic in the middle of the bush.
Selous
After a delicious breakfast you depart from Mikumi to the adjacent Selous Game Reserve. Along the way, you’ll be amazed by all there is to see; this is safari.
The next day starts with an early walking safari, followed by a jeep safari. Late afternoon, you take a boat safari to enjoy the sunset. A second, full-day safari by jeep leaves you with an excellent impression of this huge reserve and the many animals that live there.
Dazzling adventurous and diverse days, surrounded by nature.
Zanzibar
After breakfast you’re brought to the port of Dar es Salaam to board the ferry to Zanzibar Island. After arriving on this tropical island, you drive past plantations and through authentic villages to the east coast of Zanzibar Island. Typical are the extensive white sandy beaches and the crystal clear turquoise water of the Indian Ocean. Here, the beautiful coral reefs invite you to go snorkelling or diving.
Departure
You fly from Zanzibar Island – via Dar es Salaam or Nairobi – back to your home destination, where you arrive the next morning.
