About Rhino Lodge

The Rhino Lodge is located near the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater and offers an ideal base for exploring the crater and the surrounding area.

This simple lodge is run by Italians in collaboration with the Maasai community.

If you don’t necessarily want a view over the crater, this is the perfect place.

The property

The 24 rooms have been built in a square arrangement and are connected to each other. The decor is simple yet comfortable.

The restaurant serves decent, African-inspired meals.

Overview

All rooms at Rhino Lodge are simple and clean and the balconies offer beautiful views of the forest and the passing wildlife such as elephants and deer.

Activities

From the lodge you can make walking safaris in the Ngorongoro Highlands led by an armed guide and ‘Babu’, a Maasai guide who all his life has lived in Ngorongoro. During the walk, you learn a lot about the Maasai culture and receive the possibility to experience this area more intensively.
