We would’ve loved to spend more time on Fanjove…

Dear Marjolijn ,

So we’re back – and after a working for week, ready for another vacation :).
Hereby another thank you for the good organization. Everything went perfectly.

When the door of the plane opened upon arrival, the wonderful warmth came towards us.
The driver took us to Swahili house – a bit of an adventure to walk through the small streets to the hotel.
We arrived quite late but ate some more on the roof terrace and especially enjoyed the first ‘Kilimanjaros’ and were curious about the view at breakfast on the roof terrace the next morning.

The next day to Dar and from Dar to Songosongo with a stopover in Mafia.
Always nice to travel with those little planes.

On the Mafia flight to Songosongo we were the only passengers … what a VIP treatment :) The registration on Songosongo and then with the tuk-tuk to the port where the dhow was waiting. A very nice sailing trip to Fanjove island. And what a breathtaking view when you arrive in the clear blue water with the white beach and the green of the island in the background.

The stay on Fanjove was great …. it was exactly what we needed …. peace, no noise, no telephones, no tourists (there was only an English couple with their daughter), only nature, the blue water, white beach, the sun, the birds, the wind (there was some wind that prevented us from going on a dolphin safari).
Yes, we would’ve liked to have stayed a little longer ….. really longer.

Back to Mafia, to Dar and hop to Pemba. Spent a super time there again.

The last day from Pemba back to Zanzibar, where we asked the ‘driver’ not to take us to Swahili house but somewhere in Stone Town in the old part on the water.
So we landed in ‘African house’ where we enjoyed the last sunset with the many beautiful memories of this trip.
It took some getting used to after 14 days in the middle of nowhere and then back to Stone Town to see a lot of people and crowds, lots of tourists, cars, noise …..

Marjolijn, it was nice to compile this trip with you and hope we can do this again :)
