Selfdrive without a guide

We had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed!

We went to Tanzania last minute for 8 days in September this year. It was very well arranged by Explore Tanzania. They listened carefully to our wishes and we always received an answer the same day whenever we emailed questions.

The most beautiful places for us were the overnight stays in the wildlife parks. The first spot was fantastic (Green Camp Lake Manyara), a small camp with five tents (we were the only guests at the time). Your meals are served in the riverbed where buffaloes, elephants and other wild animals are drinking. You shower with warm water, which is heated on the campfire and you sleep in a tent with a lovely bed. At night a water buffalo passed in front of the tent. Really fantastic.

Nogogororo Crater is another beautiful experience.

We also spent two nights in Tarangire Safari Lodge (in a tent) with a view over a valley on a river. Here you see a lot of wildlife. In the night a lion passed in front of the tent. The park itself is quite quiet and if you spot a lion, for example, there are no other cars immediately.

We drove ourselves without a guide. This was doable (if you have a really good map).
